Custom statement ordering, and much more!
Overview
It’s been a hot summer here in California (and many other parts of the U.S.), and what better way to beat the heat than with some cool new enhancements to Chronicler!
Check out the details below to see what we’ve been up to.
What’s changed
Chronicler now supports “Drag and Drop” statements to create a custom ordering
One of the things that we love about Chronicler is its ability to automatically sort statements, and try to present you with the most likely choices for your note at the top of the list, so that you can spend less time scrolling to find what you need. This “smart search” takes many factors into account, and it gets better at sorting the more that you use it.
However, we’ve received consistent feedback asking for a way to order the statements “statically,” so that the same statement always appears in the same spot on the list. And while we’ll always have a soft spot for our “smart search,” we also want to serve those who prefer to customize their statement ordering.
To that end, Chronicler now allows you to “drag and drop” statements for a given step to create a custom ordering, that is persisted between notes, so that you can be confident that a particular statement is always where you expect it to be.

2. You can now install Chronicler as an app on your mobile device
Chronicler already functions well in the browser on your mobile device (phone or tablet), but some people prefer a more “app like” experience, and don’t want to feel like they’re in a web browser, so we enhanced Chronicler to function as a “Progressive Web App.” In simplest terms, this means that you can now install Chronicler on your mobile device, and interact with it just like you would for other mobile apps!
You can check out our help center article for detailed instructions on how to install Chronicler on your iOS or Android device.
3. We added a “Customize” button for a more centralized editing experience
As we continue to improve Chronicler with more helpful features, a design question that always arises is “how can we make it easy for you to do what you need to do, while also keeping visual clutter to a minimum?”
In our continuous pursuit to address that question, we’ve decided to move some of the editing functionality in the note builder (e.g. Adding a statement, updating a statement, and format editing) behind a single “Customize” button.
The concept is very simple in practice. When you want to customize the note builder, simply click the “Customize” button, and you’ll see all the normal options that you are used to.
Once you’ve completed your customizations, you can close out of that view, and voila!, you’re right back in the note builder.
4. We lowered the statement threshold for “Rephrase with ChatGPT”
In response to your feedback, we have lowered the statement threshold (that is, how many statements must be present in a note) for using the “Rephrase with ChatGPT” functionality in Chronicler. This change will make it easier for those who need shorter notes to reap the benefits of our AI rephrasing capabilities.
